Looksee Checklist by ndds
It can be hard for parents to know exactly what to look for when they suspect their child is having a developmental issue. The free Looksee Checklist by ndds can be a very helpful tool and is available for children from 1 month to 6 years of age.
Easy-to-use. As a simple one-page checklist with yes/no questions and no “scoring,” the checklist is very easy-to-use for everyone. Each one also features clear illustrations, easy-to-read language and colour-coding by age.
Time saving. With yes/no questions and no scoring, the Looksee Checklist takes only minutes to complete. The following areas of a child’s skills are explored in the Checklist: vision, hearing, speech, language, fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, social, emotional and self-help.
Available in multiple languages. The Looksee Checklist is available in 8 languages: English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Includes activities. Each checklist features a sheet full of activities to enhance a child’s development. Each activity has an icon representing a primary area of development including emotional, fine motor, gross motor, learning and thinking, self-help, social and communication.
Ontario residents may register to download any of the 13 free Looksee Checklists by ndds or register online and receive an email reminder to complete the checklist at that time, which will help them monitor their child’s development over a period of time.
When completing the Checklist, if you have questions or concerns about your child’s development, we encourage you to speak with your child’s pediatrician or family doctor, a family educator or call Ottawa Public Health at 613-580-6744 for guidance to finding the services in your area that can help.
