Gestures & communication

There are many benefits to learning gestures. Research shows that the number of gestures a child is able to use is related to the number of words they will later be able to say.

Use gestures that represent words. Use them when talking, singing and playing. Use your hands and body to describe actions, to point things out and to represent words.  Have fun and be creative!

Remember to say the word when you or your child uses the gesture!
